Lake Ashby Description

Lake Ashby is located just east of County Road 415 in Volusia County in central Florida. The lake covers 1,030 acres and is sparsely developed. It is a beautiful lake with very dark water from tannins. There are wetlands on the eastern and southern sides of the lake with a tributary in the southwestern corner of the lake. Lake Ashby has a public boat ramp located on the northern shore, but the parking is limited. During periods of heavy rainfall, the boat ramp might not be usable due to flooded conditions. The lake is popular with boaters and fishermen and is used sometimes by amphibious aircraft (sea planes) for practicing takeoffs and landings. Boaters should use caution if the aircraft are present. The lake has good water quality, according to the trophic state index. From intersection of SR 415 and Enterprise-Osteen Road in town of Osteen, go north on SR 415 for 8.0 miles to Lake Ashby Road. Turn right and follow 0.5 mile. Turn right onto unpaved road and follow to ramp at dead-end of road. Single-lane ramp with unimproved parking lot capable of accommodating 6 vehicles. Bank fishing is allowed.
