November is the transition month leaving our short fall behind us moving towards a Florida winter fishing pattern, however it has been a mild autumn so far with water temperatures still pretty warm, extending fall fishing. Baitfish schools still in the area, schools of migratory inshore gamefish Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish still prowling the backwaters, most resident fish are still in the warmer water scattered pattern. This is a good time of year for better Mangrove Snapper in the intracoastal waterway after they have grown all year with lots of summer food and getting bigger before heading off shore into the ocean. As the water temperatures start to drop soon the Seatrout, Redfish, Black Drum and Snook will begin to school up together into their winter schools in holes, sloughs, and on the flats on sunny chilly days. Fall has been the Redfish spawning time in deeper water along the channel, some also come into the backwaters as Bill from Orlando found with me landing a big oversize Redfish …………………

Jack Crevalle are one of our dependable fun hard pulling inshore game fish, in the fall, schools of Jacks are widespread in the backwaters, when conditions are right, white water striking gives away their location as they attack bait fish, many of these are 3 to 5 lb fish, great fun for sight casting and fun fights, Austin and friends from California caught some of those 5 pounders …………

Longtime regular clients from Iowa out again on their fall charter caught many different species as usual, including Seatrout, Jacks, Ladyfish, Mangrove Snapper, Whiting and others, Bonnie had the biggest of the morning a fun Shovelnose Shark on light tackle …………….

Snook have been regular catches again here in the backwaters including Edgewater Backcountry and Mosquito Lagoon, many in this area are small to medium size which are fun on light tackle, repeat client Ken from Ohio with a fun little linesider ……….
